Thullur is the mandal headquarters that gave its name to the capital's core, 4 km from the Krishna and roughly halfway between Guntur and the interim Secretariat. It had 7,794 residents in 2011 in 14.92 sq km, with a literacy rate of 69.44%.

Thullur at a glance
Buses from both Vijayawada and Guntur bus stations terminate or pass here, and the number of services grew after the Secretariat opened. The tahsildar's office, the mandal's schools and the market make it the everyday town of the capital villages.
