Sports City is one of the nine master-plan themes and the main reason Pedaparimi, Vaddamanu and Harischandrapuram are being pooled. Little is built; the land process is what moves.

What has been said
- 4 Dec 2025: MAUD Minister P. Narayana said a Sports City across 2,500 acres capable of hosting Olympic-level events would be built and that work would begin within a year.
- Nov 2025 Cabinet note and January 2026 reports: about 2,500 acres of the Guntur-district Phase 2 land (Vaddamanu, Harischandrapuram, Pedaparimi) will go to the Sports City, the railway track and the Inner Ring Road.
- Earlier in 2025 a 1,600-acre sports city near Ibrahimpatnam with a 1.25 lakh-seat cricket stadium on 100 acres was floated in social media reports; that proposal has not appeared in later official statements and should be treated as superseded.
- The 50th CRDA meeting in July 2025 approved land for the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy and the MSK Prasad Cricket Academy among 16 entities.
What to watch
A land notification naming survey numbers in Pedaparimi or Vaddamanu for the Sports City, followed by a DPR and a tender. Until then the project is a purpose in a pooling order, not a construction site.
