Amaravati Sports City: about 2,500 acres planned on Phase 2 land
Sports City is one of the nine themes in the master plan. It is also one of the main purposes for which land in Pedaparimi, Vaddamanu and Harischandrapuram is being pooled. Very little is built yet. What is moving is the land process.

Where the planning stands
The government's PPP pipeline lists Amaravati Sports City at pre-DPR stage, with February 2027 shown as a pipeline date. That is not a completion date. The Mangalagiri cricket stadium is a separate ground that is already in use.
What has been said
- 4 Dec 2025: MAUD Minister P. Narayana said a Sports City of 2,500 acres, able to host Olympic-level events, would be built, and that work would begin within a year.
- November 2025 Cabinet note and January 2026 reports: about 2,500 acres of the Guntur-district Phase 2 land (Vaddamanu, Harischandrapuram, Pedaparimi) will go to the Sports City, the railway track and the Inner Ring Road.
- Earlier in 2025, social media posts described a 1,600-acre sports city near Ibrahimpatnam with a 1.25 lakh-seat cricket stadium on 100 acres. That proposal has not appeared in any later official statement, so treat it as replaced.
- The 50th CRDA meeting in July 2025 gave land to the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy and the MSK Prasad Cricket Academy, among 16 entities.
What to watch for
First, a land notification that names survey numbers in Pedaparimi or Vaddamanu for the Sports City. Then a DPR, and then a tender. Until those come, the Sports City is a purpose written in a pooling order, not a construction site.
