The Errupalem–Amaravati–Nambur railway line: 57 km and a 3.2 km Krishna bridge

Route and stations

The line starts at Errupalem in Telangana, on the Kazipet–Vijayawada section. It crosses the Krishna on a 3.2 km bridge and runs through the capital to Namburu on the Guntur–Krishna Canal section. Trains will be able to bypass Vijayawada Junction.

The proposed stations are Errupalem, Peddapuram, Chennaravupalem, Gottimukala, Paritala, Kothapeta, Vaddamanu, Amaravati, Tadikonda and Koppuravuru, ending at Namburu. The Amaravati station and the track are among the stated purposes of the Phase 2 land pooling in Vaddamanu, Harischandrapuram and Pedaparimi.

Cost and status

• Sanctioned in 2017-18. The land acquisition notification was issued on 18 June 2024. The Union Cabinet approved it in October 2024 at ₹2,245 crore; later reports say ₹2,047 crore.
• In August 2026 the railway authorities, working with the state revenue department, began acquiring about 300 acres across eight villages in NTR district.
• Construction is being tendered in packages. On 4 October 2026 Railways invited bids for package 4: the 28.35 km stretch from Vaddamanu to Nambur, at ₹599.33 crore, to be built in two and a half years. Bids are due on 23 November 2026. Packages 1 to 3 had been tendered before that. We have not seen a published contract award for any package.
• On the Amaravati side, the Cabinet approved pooling in Mothadaka in August 2026 and a 100 m strip along the line in Tadikonda mandal in September. See the new pooling round.
• The line will be run by the South Coast Railway zone.
