Who is paying for Amaravati: loans, grants and the state's own money
Amaravati stalled in 2019 partly because the money left with the politics. The 2024 to 2026 financing stack is larger and more diversified than the first attempt.

What has been sanctioned so far
- 3 Dec 2024: CRDA sanctions ₹11,467 crore for the first phase of construction: ₹2,498 crore roads, ₹1,585.95 crore flood and reservoir works, ₹3,525 crore government housing, ₹3,859.66 crore LPS layout amenities across 8,496 acres.
- Dec 2024: the minister announced approvals for infrastructure works worth ₹24,276 crore in total.
- 2 May 2025: the Prime Minister laid foundations for 74 projects worth ₹49,000 crore and inaugurated others, ₹58,000 crore in all.
- 4 Apr 2026: the Chief Minister's review put works in progress at ₹57,821 crore.
- Tender values on record: five Secretariat/HoD towers ₹4,668 crore; High Court and Assembly buildings ₹1,816 crore (Assembly contract to L&T at ₹617 crore); trunk infrastructure packages ₹4,313.78 crore; Seed Access Road phase 3 ₹593 crore.
What it means for the timeline
The World Bank loan runs on a program basis, releasing tranches as results are met; a further $200 million release by December was reported in 2025. Trunk roads are scheduled for April 2027, the High Court complex for 2027 and the Assembly for 2028. Those dates are contractual targets, not guarantees, and monsoon seasons have slipped Amaravati schedules before.

Is the World Bank funding Amaravati again?
Yes. After withdrawing from an earlier project in July 2019, the World Bank approved $800 million on 20 December 2024 for the Amaravati Integrated Urban Development Program, co-financed by ADB.
How much has the Centre given?
The PMO said on 2 May 2025 that the Union government had committed ₹15,000 crore in financial assistance to Amaravati since 2024 and had facilitated the World Bank and ADB support.
