Amaravati Outer Ring Road: route, length and tender status
The Outer Ring Road (ORR) is the big six-lane ring that NHAI will build around the capital region. It has now reached the tender stage. Bids are open and no contractor has been chosen yet.

The October 2026 tenders
On 2 October 2026 NHAI listed four construction packages for the ORR on the government tender portal. Our ORR tenders page gives the tender IDs, the stretch each package covers and the published bid dates. Before this, the project was at the land acquisition stage.
News reports put the estimated project cost at ₹11,537.70 crore and the bid project cost at ₹13,091.75 crore. The packages are to be built under DBFOT or hybrid annuity contracts, each over 1,095 days. Bids are due at 11:00 on 18 November 2026, and the technical bids open the next day.
How long the road is
The package chainages describe a main ring of 189.930 km and a separate 5.300 km spur to Narakoduru. Together that is 195.230 km, which we calculated from the published chainages. That is why some reports say about 190 km and others say 195 km; one September 2026 report says 195.13 km. If you are looking at a particular piece of land, check the package drawings for it.
A report of 28 September 2026 puts the whole project at ₹30,491 crore, with ₹10,595.70 crore for civil works and ₹5,315 crore for land. It says about 7,400 acres are needed across 97 villages in five districts. The planned structures include twin tunnels in package I, a 4.8 km Krishna bridge at Vallurupalem in package III, and a 3.15 km Krishna bridge at Munnaluru with a 400 m tunnel in package IV. These are reported figures, not tender documents.
What a tender does and does not tell you
NHAI is the authority building the road. Inviting bids shows that procurement has started. It does not mean a contractor has been chosen, a start date has been fixed or any stretch is open. The older ₹16,000-crore estimate is not the total of the current tenders, so we do not use it.
Checking land near the road
For a parcel near the route, get the alignment drawing and the notification that lists survey numbers. Being close on a map does not mean there will be an interchange or a way onto the road. See land near ring roads for the papers to check.
