Uddandarayunipalem
Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of Amaravati at Uddandarayunipalem on 22 October 2015. On 18 December 2019 it was one of the villages where the farmers' protest against the three-capitals plan began. A village of 1,503 people on 4.31 sq km has been the stage for the capital's two biggest moments.

Uddandarayunipalem at a glance
One story says the village was built by Kota Ketaraju of Dharanikota in memory of his father, Uddandarayudu. Another links the name to a commander of Krishnadevaraya, who is said to have stopped at Thullur on his way to Kondapalli. The village is on the Vijayawada–Undavalli–Uddandarayunipalem road, the everyday route to the Secretariat.
