The 2011 census counted 6,887 people in 26.36 sq km, with 3,388 men and 3,499 women and a literacy rate of 66.16%. It is a farming village of mostly dry (metta) land, with fewer jareebu holdings than the riverbank villages, which matters for entitlements: most acres here carry the 250 sq yard commercial component, not 450.
