Mandadam
Mandadam holds the 13th-century granite pillar on which Kakatiya emperor Ganapati Deva recorded the birth and coronation of his daughter Rudrama Devi in 182 lines of Sanskrit and Telugu; it also holds 70 of the acres BITS Pilani has taken for its Amaravati campus. Few villages in the scheme combine that much past and future.

Mandadam at a glance
The village covers 20.18 sq km on the Vijayawada–Amaravati road, about 12 km from Vijayawada via the Karakatta bund road, and its centre is busy with secretariat employees and construction workers. Mandadam was one of the three villages where the farmers' protest began on 18 December 2019.
