Amaravati trunk roads: the E and N grid that gives every layout its address
The city is laid out as a grid. Roads running east to west carry E numbers and roads running north to south carry N numbers. A returnable plot's value depends a lot on which of these roads is finished near it.

What is being built
APCRDA's trunk road tenders are not only for the road surface. Each package also covers stormwater drains, water supply, sewerage, utility ducts, recycled-water lines, footpaths, cycle tracks, roadside trees and street furniture. The packages were estimated at ₹4,313.78 crore.
The December 2024 sanction of ₹11,467 crore included ₹2,498 crore for main roads linking to the Chennai–Kolkata highway, naming E-5, E-7, E-9, E-11 and E-15. It also included the E-8 road at ₹522.92 crore and N-11 at ₹419.85 crore. APCRDA's 2017 plan listed 115 km of key roads, with N4, N9, N14, N16, E6, E8, E10, E12 and E14 among the first corridors.
When the roads are due
The February 2026 announcement that put the IRR on the PPP route also set April 2027 as the deadline for the trunk roads. On 22 July 2026 the minister gave a slightly earlier date: the 350 km road network by March 2027, and the layouts by the end of 2027. In his April 2026 review, the Chief Minister ordered weekly and monthly targets and asked for the scheduled stretches to be finished before the monsoon. In the master plan's grid, the main east-west roads are named E1, E2 and so on, and the main north-south roads N1, N2 and so on. The Seed Access Road is E3.
